Ricefield was founded in December 2004 by two Chinese ladies, Lin Chau and Julia Hung. Their aim was to promote and advance education of Chinese arts and culture in Scotland. Within its first year of operation Ricefield received the Empowerment Award (2005) for its contribution to arts and culture.
10 years on, Ricefield continues to work with a wide range of partners to present a lively and innovative programme of exhibitions, film, residencies, engagement projects, festivals, symposia and events which explore Chinese arts and culture in Scotland.
The Blackford Trust
The Blackford Trust, established in 2008, supports projects in Scotland and China that give people opportunity, and is also interested in promoting links and cross-cultural understanding between the two countries.
Edinburgh Chinese Culture Association
The Edinburgh Chinese Culture Association (ECCA) was established in 2008 as a voluntary organization. Its objectives are to help local people to understand more about Chinese culture, custom and traditions ; to build friendship within Chinese communities and with other races in Scotland ; and to facilitate links between Scotland and China.
Scotland China Education Network
The Scotland China Education Network (SCEN) exists to promote the learning of Chinese and about China in Scottish schools, and to encourage educational links between Scottish and Chinese schools by bringing together those involved to share experiences and good practice.
